NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INFORMATION SOCIETY (2014-2020) IS APPROVED

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has issued an order to approve "National Strategy for the Development of Information Society in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2014-2020".

The strategy identifies new outlines of future development in the country. It is to establish the bases of information society, the use of Information-Communication Technologies (ICT) by citizens, community, private sector and government agencies creates favorable conditions for planning future activities.

It is designed to meet the needs of society in modern communication and information technologies, world experience, the experience of international organizations, including the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the European Union, UNESCO recommendations, and the "Open Government Initiative". The Strategy reflects the state policy on the fulfillment of the tasks set before the ICT field, identifies the main goals and objectives, priorities and key areas of activity.

One of the biggest fields the Strategy reflects is the e-government portal by setting the principle of use of electronic services at all levels of public administration, what means that soon lot of services will be available online and a number of paper work will be eliminated.
